Corporal John Paul "Johnny" Pearce born 26 May 1930, Shreveport, Caddo Parish, Louisiana was the third of four children of James Wylie Pearce, Jr. b 03 Mar 1898 Arcadia d 04 Jun 1963, Kilgore, Rusk County, Texas, and, Susan Elizabeth "Susie" Jordan b 25 May 1902 Arcadia d 26 Feb 1972 Arcadia, Bienville Parish, Louisiana. James Wylie was an oil operator, Production Supervisor, Drilling and Production Supervisor, and had interest in several producing wells individually. Consequently the family moved around Louisiana and Texas oil fields from 1915 to 1933, as the locations of their children's birthplaces can attest.

Johnny's siblings were:

- Susan Elizabeth b Arcadia, Bienville Parish, Louisiana, married George William Bruffey, Jr. d 1993; they had 5 children, all married, have children and grandchildren.

- James Wylie Pearce III b 12 Dec 1926 Corsicana, Navarro County, Texas d 08 Jan 2014 Port Arthur Jefferson County, Texas. His wife Shirley a son and stepson survive.

- William Garvis "Bill" b 20 Dec 1931 Arcadia, Bienville Parish, Louisiana in the home of his maternal grandparents, Viola Bailey and James Rogers "Jim" Jordan, Arcadia, Bienville Parish, Louisiana d 2008 Tyler, Smith County, Texas. Bill's career was the US Air Force, serving at several locations overseas before he retired. He first married Mona Grace, they had a daughter and a son, then were divorced. In 1972, Bill married Mary Ann Thompson, they had a son, Bobby, b 1974 d 1980, age 6 years; after Bobby's death they divorced. In 1980 Bill moved to Tyler Texas, where he died in 2008.

23 Dec 1952, Johnny married Nelda Holt McCoy b 16 Sep 1931, the daughter of Mamie b 1911, and Wood McCoy b 1909 d Bef 2007; to this union was born 3 sons, Danny, John Wylie and Allen "Nubin".

Corporal John Paul served in the US Marine Corps during the Korean War between 25 Jan 1950 to 22 Jul 1953.

On 16 Oct 1994 in Tarrant County, Texas John Paul died, leaving Nelda and his sons. Nelda died 30 Jul 2007 in Gladewater, Gregg County, Texas and was laid to rest beside her husband of 42 years. Together they led a very full life.
