Ora May Hardy was born April 7, 1875 at Prairie Home near the present site of Cuba, Kan. Her parents were homesteaders in the Prairie Home community.
She was married to Andrew Peter Goppert at Belleville, Kan., on March 5, 1890. They began housekeeping on a homestead, about 12 miles southeast of Stockton in Rook County, Kan. They sold their homestead and returned to Republic county and made their home near Jefferson Center for many years. Later after living a year in Cloud county, in 1919 they acquired their home on Salt Creek, in Republic county. Following the demise of her husband she moved to Courtland, Kan., in 1956.
She passed this life August 2, 1959, at the age of 84 years, 3 months and 25 days. Preceding her in death were her husband in 1947, a baby boy in 1898 and a daughter, Caro May Lash in 1928.
Survivors are, one sister, Mrs. Amy Cole of Santa Barbara, Cal.; four sons, Roy O. of Belleville, Kan, Ernest J. of Cody, Wyo., Clarence H. of Mission, Kan., and Harry F. of Kansas City, Mo.; two daughters, Grace M. Lash of Minneapolis, Kan., and Florence H. Mikesell of Courtland, Kan.; 13 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.
She became a member of the Talmo Methodist Church of Talmo, Kan., many years ago and transferred her membership to the Courtland Methodist Church of which she was a member at the time of her demise.
