Caro May Goppert, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A. P. Goppert was born in Rooks County, Kansas, September 11 , 1895, and departed this life at her home near Rydal, Sunday, May 6, 1928, at the age of 32
years, 7 months and 25 days.
At the age of 6 years she moved with her parents to Republic county, Kansas, where she has lived until her
death.
She was a graduate of the common schools of Republic county and attended Belleville High School from which she graduated in 1912, then teaching in the schools of the county for three years.
She was united in marriage December 29, 1915 to Bernie L. Lash and moved to the Highland neighborhood
where they have since resided. Four children were born to this union, Irene, age 11 , Eva, 9, Grace Eldred, 7, and Earl Alfred, 2.
She united with the Baptist church in Belleville in early girlhood and upon moving to the Highland neighborhood had her membership transferred to the Highland Baptist church of which she has since been an active and faithful member. Also a member of the Ladies Aid and active in all social and community work.
She was a loving wife and devoted mother, her home and family being her first consideration.
Beside her husband, children and parents, she leaves to mourn her loss four brothers, Roy of Belleville, Ernest of Cody, Wyo., Clarence of Fairbury, Nebr., and Harry at home, and two sisters, Mrs. Lyle Lash of Belleville and Florence who is at home, many other relatives and a host of friends.
Funeral services were conducted Monday afternoon at the Highland Baptist church by Rev. Harry Fuller of Belleville and burial made in the Pleasant Ridge cemetery. The funeral was one of the largest this community has seen.
