Waman Clark was the fourth child and only living son of Daniel and Mourning Hembree Clark. He married Elizabeth Lowrey (Lowry) on 28 Feb 1843.

They had at least two children:
- Mark Lowery Clark (1844-1906)
- Ann Clark (1847-1849).

The Clark family is found in the book, "The Pariss Sims Family and Related Families 1765-1965." It was one of the "Related Families" of the author, Almon James Sims. He wrote, "In the 1830s Waman Calrk who married Elizabeth Lowery, aquired a large track of land west of Sparta and built a splendid two-story brick home which is still in the family and in excellent condition. The home was and is known as Beechwood, but is no longer in the family. A grist mill, known as Clark's Mill, was operated by the family for many years."
