Kathryn Tanner Larson, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, returned to our Heavenly Father, Wednesday, January 20, 1993, at the age of 84, as a result of pancreatic cancer.
Born December 14, 1908 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Henry Smith and Laura Lauretta Woodland Tanner. Graduated from LDS High School, 1927; attended University of Utah; received B.S. degree, BYU 1960. Married Onslow Peter Larson May 7, 1932, Salt Lake LDS Temple; later divorced.
Her love for children was felt as she taught elementary school in Salt Lake City and kindergarten in Las Vegas, Nevada, 1943-1976, when she returned to Salt Lake. As an active member of the LDS Church, she served in numerous positions throughout her life. She served as a Salt Lake temple worker, and volunteer at the LDS Genealogy Library for approximately seven years each. She had a love for music and people and enjoyed teaching and serving others. Her love and compassion has toughed all who knew her and she will be greatly missed.
Survived by sons, Peter, Las Vegas, Nevada; Robert (Mina), Salt Lake City; Eric (MarKaye), Riverside, California; Gary (Sheila) West Jordan; 15 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Vella T. Stevenson, Las Vegas, Nevada; Lydia T. Buck, Northridge, California; Josephine T (Ingvar) Brunsvik, Magna; Richard M. (Laural) Tanner; David S. (Pat) Tanner, Salt Lake City; Roselyn T. (Robert) Christensen, Layton.
Preceded in death by brothers, sisters, and daughter-in-law, Doris (Peter).
Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 23 at the Winder 13th Ward. Interment, Salt Lake City Cemetery.
