William Pinkney Bishop was born May 17, 1866 in Marion County, Alabama. He was the youngest of sixteen children born to Pinckney Bishop and Charlotte Pope Bishop.

On May 18, 1886 at twenty years old, he married Mary Elizabeth Anthony in Marion County, Alabama. They were blessed with eleven children.

In 1888, "Bill" and "Betty" with eight children left Alabama and moved to Salt Creek, Brown County, Texas where two more children were born. Between 1910 and 1915, they moved to Wood County, Texas where their youngest child, Clyde, was born. They remained in Wood County, Texas several years before relocating to Rising Star, Eastland County, Texas.

Grand Daddy Bishop resided in Rising Star until his death on March 6, 1929 at the age of 63 years. He was much loved by numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
