William Alexander Bullard Davis (also known today as WAB] followed in his father's footsteps and became a school teacher and surveyor. He taught at Mt. Vernon School District and in the surrounding rural schools. After the death of his first wife, Mary Denney Davis, he married Mary Alice Forbes, a young school teacher and daughter of Henry and Sallie Forbes of Madison County, Kentucky. During the period of 1908 and 1910, he served as a respresentative of the Kentucky State Legislature from Rockcastle County and Laurel Counties.

After his term as a state legislator, he continued as an educator and was Superintendent of Schools of Rockcastle County at the time of his death. His widow, Alice, being qualified was appointed by the county Board of Education to serve in his place and held the title until she resigned in 1923.
