An Old Settler Dead - Thursday, October 9, 1902, Weston Leader, Weston, Oregon.
Thomas Moorhouse, known as "Uncle Tom", the oldest citizen of Weston in years passed peacefully away Sunday morning, October 5, at his home in Weston, at the advanced age of 89 years, 11 months and 20 days.
Mr. Moorhouse was born in England October 15, 1812, and came with his parents across the ocean in 1822 (?) locating in Ohio. He was married March 1, 1835 to Miss Augusta Nodurf. Eight children were born to them, two of whom, Lee and John Moorhouse, are now living. The aged wife, who is 90 years old, survives her husband.
Mr. Moorhouse and family moved from Ohio to Indiana, and then to Iowa. They crossed the plains in 1861 and settled in the Walla Walla valley, moving to Weston about 18 years ago.
Funeral services were conducted at the late home of the deceased Sunday afternoon at 5 o'clock by Rev. A. J. Gordon. Mr and Mrs Lee Moorhouse were present from Pendleton.
