Joseph Griffin, aged 27, a bachelor, a Labourer, from Pound Street, Kilrush, son of John Griffin (deceased) a Shipwright, married Mary O'Loughlin, aged 23, a spinster, from Pound Street, Kilrush, daughter of Pat O'Loughlin, a Pensioner, on 16 September 1888 at St. Senan's Church, Kilrush.
The witnesses were,

in the 1901 census, Joseph Griffin was living in the home of his late wife's parents.
Recorded were,
Patrick O'Loughlin, aged 70, an Army Pensioner
Kate O'Loughlin, his wife, aged 60.
Joseph Griffin, his son in law, aged 45, a Steward of a club.
Also there were Joseph Griffin's children,
Margaret, aged 11.

From the headstone which records Mary Griffin's death one week before the 1901 census, it would appear that Mary died from complications arising after having given birth to Kate.

He was the Caretaker of The Temperance Hall.

Patrick, his son, aged 13.
James, his son, aged 11.
Ellen Norah, his daughter, aged 20.
Mary, his daughter, aged 17.
Kate, his daughter, aged 10.
Also present were,
Patrick O'Loughlin, his father-in-law, aged 77, an Army Pensioner.
Kate O'Loughlin, his mother-in-law, aged 74.
They had been married 45 years, and had 5 children, 2 of whom were alive.
Mary Burke, a boarder, aged 81, widowed, who had been married for 33 years, and had no children, was also there.

The cause of death was Senile Decay, Cardiac Failure, certified.
