Mr. Absalom Rhodes, a prominent citizen of Hephzibah, Georgia, died at the Pine Heights Sanitariun, May. 13, 1915 from gangrene poisoning, which he contracted in his foot several months ago. He was 71, and was well known in the Augusta area.
He was survived by his wife, Mrs. Fannie H. Rhodes, eight sons, two daughters, two brothers, and twenty grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at the Hephzibah Methodist Church, Rev. A.F. Nunn officiating. the interment will be in the Hephzibah Cemetery. R E Elliott Funeral home in charge.

The following gentlemen were requested to act as pallbearers; Messrs: H L Murphy, T F Ladin, James Baxley, Dr. W H Baxley, and E E Cadle.

Absalom Rhodes, who states DOB as 2/15/1844 in Richmond Co, Ga, has a CSA pension app on line in the GA archives virtual vault. he says he enlisted in Augusta in 1862 and served with Company F of the 12th Ga regiment. J. H. Lawrence was his witness.
