[The most current headstone has 1811 as his birth year, but the older foot stone has 1817. Based on Federal census records, William Henderson Ferguson was born between 1811-1812 in Georgia.]

Wed Elizabeth "Bettie" Armstrong 30 December 1830 in South Carolina.

Father of James [Dubose] Ferguson, William Henderson Ferguson, Eustatia Eugenia Ferguson Woodruff Duty, Frances Cornelia Ferguson Bozeman, Marion M Ferguson, Angeline Ferguson Gorman and Winston Vernada Ferguson Baker.

Son of Elizabeth DuBose Ferguson and Jacob Ferguson, a minister and farmer.

Brother of Celia Ann Ferguson Gordon Ray, Darius "Daily" Ferguson, Emily Jane Ferguson Armstrong, Abel Dubose Ferguson, Elias "Eli" H Ferguson, Annie Missouri Ferguson Hutchinson, Robert Henry Ferguson, Priscilla Susanna Ferguson Butts, Lucinda Ferguson Stallings, Drucilla Ferguson Pierce Boggan Odom, Lydia Fergsuon Atkins, and Isaac James Ferguson.

Based on the births of their children and land office records, they lived in Alabama from at least 1832 until 1840. They were in the Red Hills of Mississippi (Neshoba or Winston Counties) by 1846 when son Marion was born.

Three of their sons served in the War Between the States: James D Ferguson served in the 5th Mississippi and died at the Battle of Franklin on 1 December 1864 leaving a wife and four children. Marion served in the 35th Mississippi and was captured at Water Valley, Mississippi. He was imprisoned at Alton, Illinois POW camp where he died and is buried. Son William served in the 11th Mississippi. He was twice wounded: at Gettysburg and The Wilderness.

The family migrated to Texas after the War (@1867) based on marriage records of daughters Cornelia and Eugenia and son William. Their place of residence in the 1870 census has not been located. The family stayed in touch with James D Ferguson's family whose descendants moved to Texas and lived near their family in the early part of the 20th century.
