LIEUTENANT KEITH CARR KILLED IN PLANE CRASH IN NEW MEXICO

Word has been received here of the death of Lieutenant Keith Carr, son-in-law of Mr. and Mrs. Forest Walton, who was killed in a plane crash November 11 at the army air forces field at Roswell, N.M., where he was a bombardier instructor.

Prior to entering the service last February, Carr was an outstanding athlete at the University of Portland. He was tabbed as one of the university's all-time great football centers for his performances in 1941-42. He came to Portland from Washington State College where he played freshman football and baseball in 1940.

Besides being a stellar athlete, Carr was sports editor of the Beacon,
university student publication. He did some radio broadcasting and hoped for a career in either newspaper or radio work.

He received his commission in the air corps on July 31, and was married to Miss Margery Walton of McMinnville on the same day at a ceremony at Roswell. He is survived by his widow; his father, Clifford H. Carr of Bellingham, Wash.; a younger brother and sister. His mother died about a year ago.
