Metter - Erastus C. Clifton, 68, died Thursday at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Dublin after a long illness. The Bulloch County native was retired from the maintenance department of Mark Hopkins Hotel in California. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and a member of Emmitt Grove Baptist Church in Bulloch County.
Surviving are a son, Jeffrey Clifton of San Jose, Calif.; two sisters, Mrs. Gayner Lanier and Miss Luna Mae Clifton, both of Orange Park, Fla.; four brothers, A.D. and T.J. Clifton, both of Metter, Ottis Clifton of Statesboro and Troy Clifton of St. Petersburg, Fla.; and three grandchildren.
Funeral: 4:30 p.m. today at Hooks Mortuary in Metter, burial in Emmitt Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.
