Mrs Mary Peyton Harris Elgin, 93. of Charlottesville, Va., died Saturday, Feb 3, at the University of Virginia Hospital Charlottesville.
She was the wife of the late John Edward Elgin.
Born Jan. 25. 1908. in Norwood Va., she was the daughter of the late Dr. Percy and Innes Randolph Harris. She grew up in Scottsville, Va., where she attended high school
She also attended Chatham Academy, Randolph Women's College and received a bachelor's degree from the University of
Alabama in Tuscaloosa, Ala. She was a member of Kappa Delta sorority. Her husband resided in Poolesville for a time. She taught school in Alabama for several years and then did home economics and sales work with Appalachian Power Co. in Lynchburg Va., and R.S. Montgomery Co. in the Richmond, Va. and Washington area.
She is survived by one sister, Innes Harris Moulton of Virginia; one brother, Percy Harris Jr. of Florida, two nephews, and one niece.
Graveside services will be held in Monocacy Cemetery, Hunter Road and Md. 28, Beallsville, Thursday, Feb. 8, at 11 a.m.
In lieu of flowers the family request contributions be made to a charity of your choice.
