Funeral services for Mr. Charles Henry Hatcher, 70, of Cookeville, will be conducted at 2 p.m. today, Wednesday, September 29, 1999, from First United Methodist Church in Cookeville with Rev. T.J. Bennett and Rev. Gerald Taylor officiating. Burial will be in Crest Lawn Memorial Gardens in Cookeville with Whitson Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Hatcher, a retired wholesale hardware salesman for Orgill Brothers in Putnam and eight surrounding counties, died Saturday, September 25, 1999, at St. Thomas Hospital in Nashville.
Born July 2, 1929, in Knoxville, he was the son of the late William Aaron and Anne Elizabeth (McCarter) Hatcher. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Kathleen Lantz.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War, a member of Friendship United Methodist Church in Cookeville (formerly Parkview) and V.F.W.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara (Hunt) Hatcher, Cookeville; a son and daughter-in-law, Stephen and Darlene Hatcher, Cookeville; a daughter and son-in-law, Sandra and Richard Roberts, Wilmington, NC; a sister and brother-in-law, Mary Frances and Raymond Gourley, Maryville; a brother-in-law, Henry Lantz, Leland, NC; a grandson, Matthew Charles Roberts, Wilmington, NC; two granddaughters, Sarah Marie Roberts, Wilmington, NC, and Holly Anne Hatcher, Cookeville; an aunt, Nancy King, Maryville; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers will be Wayne Owsley, David Beeler, Jim Butcher, Billy Lantz, Lloyd Petty Jr., and Robert Smith.
