A truck crash Thursday at McGalliard and Nebo roads killed a Muncie driver who failed to stop at the intersection for traffic signs. County Coroner Rodney Qualkinbush said the victim was Leonard E. Clevenger, 57, Jackson Trailer Park, Lot 3. The man, who was the driver of a pickup truck destroyed in the collision, was pronounced dead at the scene shortly after the accident occurred at 9:14 a.m. An autopsy performed sater Thursday, indicated Clevenger died of massive head injuries sustained when he struck the dashboard of his truck. The semi-tractor driver was not injured in the crash, although damage to his rig was estimated at $10,000. Qualkinbush said the man did not appear to be wearing a seat belt when the crash occurred. Reserve county patrolman Dan Parker reported the Clevenger truck proceeded into the intersection without stopping for the signs. Parker said the man apparently did not see the stop signs and cut across the path of the semi-rig. Fisher skidded som 83 feet to avoid hitting the truck, but struck the front of the vehicle. Both vehicles went into a ditch and struck a guardrail. The semi jacknifed, doing considerable damage to the tractor and trailer hitch. The rig was owned by Coppes Inc., and was hauling a load of cabinets when the accident occurred. Another company truck was summoned after the accident to transfer the load.
