Donald G. Cain, age 90, formerly of Williamsfield, Illinois died at 1:44 P.M. on Saturday, October 2, 2010 at Galesburg Cottage Hospital in Galesburg, Illinois.
He was born on June 22, 1920 in rural Williamsfield, Illinois, the son of Forrest and Nellie Todd Cain. He married Marjorie Johnson and she preceded him in death in 1957. He married Thelma B. Murphy Kukuk on January 31, 1959 in Galesburg, Illinois. She survives of Williamsfield, Illinois.
Surviving are stepson, Gary M. (Suni) Kukuk of Victoria, Illinois; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; sister, Lorraine (Bill) Baldwin of Brooks, Georgia and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; one son: Forrest Earl Cain and one sister: LaVonne "Bonnie" Marshall.
He was raised and educated in Victoria, Illinois. Don joined his dad at the age of 15 to farm in the Williamsfield, Illinois area retiring in 1985. He was also employed by Thomas Plumbing & Heating as a sheet metal worker for 20 years. At the age of 20, he received his pilot's license and flying became a lifelong passion. He enjoyed rebuilding and repairing airplanes and farm machinery. Don and Thelma enjoyed their winters in Florida and loved boating on the Mississippi. He was a lifelong member of the NRA and loved to hunt and fish. He was a member of the A.T. Darrah Masonic Lodge # 793, AF & AM in Victoria, Illinois for over 60 years.
Cremation Rites will be accorded.
Graveside Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, October 9, 2010 at 10:30 A.M. at East Linwood Cemetery in Galesburg, Illinois. Rev. Sarah Wanck officiating. Memorials may be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children.
