Anthon Hanson was born on January 5, 1935 at the family home in Girard township, Ottertail County, MN. He was the son of Julius S. and Lulu E. (Kimber) Hanson. He grew up in Girard Township and attended country school there through the eighth grade. He then started working with his father as a carpenter. He entered the US Army in 1956. He was married to Virginia Barnack on April 25, 1959 at Grace Lutheran Church in Henning, MN. He then worked for seven years for Vernon Jensen Construction in Fergus Falls, MN. He became the manager of the Wilcox (Homestead) Lumber Company in Henning in 1966 and remained there until ill health forced his retirement in 1991. He loved working with wood and would still do odd jobs for family and friends. He enjoyed deer hunting, fishing, and spending time with his family and his dog, "Ole".

Tony is survived by his wife: Virginia; daughters: Cindy (Dave) Wallace, Battle Lake, MN, Cheryl (Dale) Thomas, Moorhead, MN, Tonette (Scott) Abrahamson, Moorhead, and Tina Deckert, Fargo, ND; brothers: Harry (Audrey) Hanson and Herman (Bernice) Hanson, both from Henning and Howard Hanson Fergus Falls; ten grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and a sister-in-law: Ilene Hanson, Belle Plaine, MN.

He is preceded in death by his parents and a brother: Julian.
