Alex Brunton was also known as Alex Catchpole and was the first of six children of Thomas Brunton and Martha Shaw. Andrew's father died in 1892 and his mother married the widower Thomas Catchpole in 1894 who also had 6 children. Including grandfather Alex Catchpole this made for a family of 15.
