Ralph Annis, went to be with his Lord on Sept. 19, 2010, at 3:30 p.m. at Boulder Park in Charlevoix.

He was survived by daughter Ellen Massey, Boyne Falls; sons Ralph Annis, Cadillac, Jim Annis, Sanford, N.C., DeWayne Annis, Fayetteville, W.Va., Zane Annis, King George, Va.; stepchildren Joan Sansbury (deceased), Caleen Slavin, Covington, Ken., Weldon Reynolds, Dayton, Ohio; mother, Leona R. Hawkins (deceased); father, Orlando J. Annis (deceased); sisters Ethellynne Niewick, Grand Rapids, Alice Southwood, Petoskey, Ruth Wheaton, Belford, Fla., Harriet Vonghan (deceased), Carolyn Hawkins (deceased); grandchildren Tammie, Lee, Robin, Missy, Chris, David, Bill, Cara, Laura, Richard (deceased) and Matt (deceased); several great-grandchildren.

Ralph worked for the Pennsylvania Railroad in Petoskey when he was a young man. He worked for the city of Petoskey for more than 20 years -- did plowing and made ice at the Winter Sports Park and the West Side Rink, worked at Magnus Park and worked part time for Martin's Fruit Market.

Ralph was a member of the Odd Fellows Petoskey Lodge 282 for many years and was the oldest member.

He loved to play accordion and sing and play for family and friends. He loved to play and sing the hymns and he loved to play polka.

He served in the U.S. Army.

Ralph will be put to rest near his mother and father in Greenwood Cemetery in Petoskey at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 30. The Rev. Peter Elliott of Christ Lutheran Church in Boyne City will officiate. There will also be a military service.
