Petrea told all of her daughters they shouldn't marry at a young age. When they reminded her that she was married at age 15 1/2, she would always say, "Well, that's different. Ole needed a housekeeper."

Petrea died very suddenly on Nov. 17, 1920. She was washing the supper dishes while Ole was reading the paper to her, and she just dropped dead.
