Mount Holman was the son of John Abram Holman (1840-1916) who was born in Randolph County, Missouri and died in Macon County, Missouri; and Matilda A. (Wilson) Holman (1843-1892) who was born in Kentucky and died in Macon County, Missouri.
Mount obtained his two middle names from his maternal grandfather, Mountjoy King Wilson (1808-1903).
Mount was born and raised in Macon County, Missouri where his parents had met and married. He had the following known siblings:

Martha Helen Holman 1872 – 1947
Edward Holman 1874 –
John Talton Holman 1879 – 1942
Mount became a country school teacher in his community. He met another country school teacher in the area named Maudie Ethel Wilson. Her father did not approve of their courtship or any plans for marriage. So, on March 2, 1902, Maudie and Mount eloped and were married on horseback.
The Holmans made their home in Macon County, Missouri, for many years where both continued to teach school for a time. They had the following children:
Marlin Kleo Holman 1904 – 1966
Clyde Wilson Holman 1905 – 1976
Mary Matilda Holman 1907 – 1991
Anna Laura Holman 1911 – 1983
John Abram Holman 1914 – 1978
Helen Ethelyeen Holman 1923 – 2008
In 1918 when Mount registered for the World War I Draft, the family's address was Route 2, Callao, Missouri.
In 1931, the Holmans purchased a dry good store in Monroe City, Missouri and ran this for several years. Later, they moved on to Hannibal, Missouri where they spent the rest of their lives.
Maudie died in 1955 and was buried at Mount Olivet Cemetery in Hannibal. Mount married again to Trinnie Gofinch. Mount died in 1960 and was buried beside Maudie.
