He served as Private in the Revolutionary War & enlisted in 6th Rgt. SC on August 23, 1778 & served with Gen. Thomas Sumpter until 1781. Prior to the fall of Charleston, SC he served under Lt. James Crawford. He was with Gen. Marion in the Battle of Eutaw Springs. He may have been awarded bounty land for his service because his 2 suspected sons, Arthur H. & David E. Crawford both had very large tracts of land in Horry, SC. Arthur was in the Conway, SC area & David E. was in the Galivants Ferry SC area. Until more records come forth we may never know.
