MRS. B. WAIGAND PASSES AWAY AT DAUGHTER'S HOME
Mrs. Barbara Waigand, 78 years old, widow of the late Frank Waigand, who passed away at his home here last Christmas Day, died at 9:50 o'clock this morning at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Edward Germaine, in New Athens. Mrs. Waigand, who lived at 321 South Second street, Belleville, had been in ill health for some time.
Mrs. Waigand went to New Athens about a month ago to visit her daughter and there her condition became aggravated so that she was unable to return home. Besides her physical ailment she had been grieving over the death of her life's companion, three months ago.
The decreased was born in East St. Louis, January 22, 1854, a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Charles Wetter. She was married to Mr. Waigand in Kinmundy, Ill., November 28, 1872.
She is survived by five sons, Charles, Philip, and George Waigand, of Belleville: John Waigand, of Dowell, Ill.; and Mike Waigand, of Columbia, Ill.; and three daughters, Mrs. Germaine of New Athens; Mrs Anna Watson of St. Louis; and Mrs. Arthur Joles, of Lula, Miss. She also is survived by one sister, Mrs. Dora Brenner, of Oklahoma City, Okla., and by 17 grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Her funeral was held from the Bux Undertaking Company Chapel to St. Peter's Cathedral March 24, at 3:00 p.m. Burial was in Walnut Hill Cemetery
