Marie Kathryn McEwen, 93, of Colorado Springs, Colo., and New Bethlehem, died Thursday morning, Aug. 30, 2007, in Colorado Springs.
Born Aug. 30, 1914, in Vandergrift, she was a daughter of the late Joseph P. and Eva Barnett.
She was married Oct. 8, 1939, to H. Frank McEwen, who preceded her in death June 19, 1993.
Mrs. McEwen was a graduate of the Allegheny Valley Hospital School of Nursing. As a registered nurse, she worked at various hospitals in the area. She was a member of the New Bethlehem Civic Club and attended the New Bethlehem Presbyterian Church and the First United Methodist Church of New Bethlehem.
Survivors include a son, Joseph D. McEwen and Sharon Roxbury of Clarion; a daughter: Barbara D Stewart and her husband, David A., of Colorado Springs, Colo.; and three grandchildren, David Andrew Stewart of Blairsville; Patrick A. Stewart and wife, Linda, of Gunnison, Colo., and Shawn Stewart of Colorado Springs, Colo.
Survivors also include three great grandchildren, Andrew, Michael and Chrinstin; a brother, Byron "Bud" Barnett and wife, Florence, of New Bethlehem; and three sisters: Maxine Wilcott of Filmore, N.Y., Ilene Crawford of Indiana, Pa., and Harriet Reichard of Cummings, Ga. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Harry F. McEwen, II; a sister, Irene Magness; and a brother, Joseph Barnett.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Rupert Funeral Home in New Bethlehem. Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the funeral home, with the Rev. Lyle Wester officiating.
Interment will follow at the New Bethlehem Cemetery
