Patsy Wells Cecil, 69, of Hamburg died Friday, September 24, 2010, at St. Vincent Medical Center in Little Rock. A native and lifelong resident of Hamburg, she was a retired secretary for the Hamburg School District. She was an active member of the Promise Land Missionary Baptist Church, member of the Lois Circle, a teacher of the Adult Ladies Sunday School Class and treasurer of the Promise Land RCI. She loved cooking, canning, sewing, camping and most enjoyed cooking Sunday dinner for her family.



She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Norval Lee Cecil; a son, Billy Don Cecil and wife Jami; three daughters, Marlene Hensley and husband Henry, Lynda Kay Chapman and husband Rodney, and Denise Melanson and husband Louis, all of Hamburg; three brothers, Charles "Bull" Wells and wife Betty, Thomas Wells and wife Nelda, all of Hamburg, and Lamar Wells and wife Debbie of Maumelle; nine grandchildren, Josh Hensley, Meagan Hensley Simms and husband Jeremiah, Dana Cecil Barrett and husband Keith, Holly Miller Carpenter and husband Kirk, Jon Craig Miller, Devin Cecil, Sean Melanson, Kaley Chapman Johnson and husband Trey and Lane Chapman; and five great-grandchildren, Micah and Casen Hensley, Hunter and Mady Carpenter and Evie Zaunbrecher. She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Mae Kelley Wells.

Funeral services were at 2 p.m., Monday, September 27, at the Promise Land Missionary Baptist Church with Revs. Michael Reese and Kenny Williams officiating. Burial followed in the Promise Land Cemetery. Pallbearers were Jim, Shane and Justin Wells, Kenny Leigh, Randall Carpenter and Andy Stewart. Memorials may be made to the Promise Land Missionary Baptist Church Building Fund, 765 Ashley 70 Road, Hamburg, AR 71646. Arrangements were by Jones-Hartshorn Funeral Home of Hamburg.
