Wilhelm Brauch was born in Germany in 1824. William Brauch enlisted at Lawrence, Kansas, on May 14, 1861, as a private in Company F, 2nd Kansas Infantry. He was discharged for disability (hernia) at Ft. Leavenworth, KS, on October 31, 1861.
He was a charter member of Burnside Post, G.A.R., Tombstone, Arizona, in 1881. He received veteran's pension no. 587.352. When his health deteriorated he left Tombstone in July 1894 for the Sawtelle Soldiers' Home, where he was admitted on July 24. His wife, Anna, remained in Tombstone.
