Bluff City.

Funeral services of David Cooper who died at his home Sunday afternoon, were held Wednesday afternoon. The Masonic lodge conducted the services at the residence and burial was made in the Singer cemetery. Mr. Cooper succumbed to an illness of several months duration, which was marked by almost continual pain and suffering. He is survived by his wife and two sons, Frances and Chester, his mother, Mrs. Casper Cooper and his brothers, William, Ernest, Burton and Benjamin, and a sister, Mrs. Fred Naevson.

Well Known Farmer Dies.

David Cooper, a well known resident of Harper county, passed away last Sunday at his home four miles south of Freeport. He had been ill for several years. The funeral was held yesterday afternoon, the Gem Furniture Company being in charge and burial was in Singer cemetery, near Bluff City. The obituary, as read at the funeral, gives the most important facts of Mr. Cooper's life:

"David Cooper was born in Cedar county, Iowa, June 28, 1858. During his childhood days his father served in the civil war. He came to Kansas at the age of 21. he knew well the deprivation and hardship of a western pioneer. Soon after he proved up a claim under the pre-emption law of Kansas. The claim represents the farm upon which he resided until the day of his death."

He was united in marriage to Miss Gertrude Singer on December 25, 1882. To this union was born two sons and one daughter, Francis C., Gertrude R., and Chester D. The daughter died in infancy at the age of 10 months and 1 day. By those who knew him was looked upon as a real friend and neighbor, occupying the trait of kindness and cheerfulness.

Mr. Cooper was made a Master Mason November 16, 1903, in Stohrville Lodge No. 368, A.F.& A.M., Bluff City, Kansas. He was an active member in the work until the beginning of his illness about eight years ago. Mr. Cooper, was converted and confessed his faith in Christ about four years ago, in October he united with the Freeport Presbyterian church. During his illness and suffering his faith in Jesus Christ whom he had taken as his personal Saviour. He was a patient sufferer, a kind and loving husband and father.

Mr. Cooper died November 27, 1921, after about eight years of illness, at the age of 63 years, 4 months and 29 days. He is survived by his wife, two sons, his mother, four brothers, one sister and four grandsons and five granddaughters. While they are feeling sad and lonely, they would not recall him from his eternal rest. For there remainth a rest of the people of God.
