Fara Doggett, 73, of Orange, died Saturday, September 25, 2010, in Orange.

Graveside services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, September 30, 2010, at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens near Bridge City. Leading the service will be Gerald Bluhm, W. Bruce Lewis and Barry Jones.

Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Wednesday at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange.

Born in Lufkin on September 19, 1937, she was the daughter of Nancy Allie Fara (Welch) and Emmitt Peyton Dunkin.

She attended Bancroft Elementary, Carr Jr. High and was a 1956 graduate of Lutcher Stark High School in Orange. During Twirp Week in 1953, she asked the young man that would become her future husband, for a date. After 6 years of courtship, they married in 1959 and were married for 51 years.

From 1956 to 1963, Fara worked as a bank teller at the First National Bank of Orange. Upon their relocation to Chicago, she worked as a teller at Illinois State Bank from 1963 until 1964.

In 1964, she and Dennis returned to Orange where she again began employment with First National Bank, working there until 1969. In 1969, she and Dennis again relocated to Baytown where she worked for the Baytown State Bank from 1969 until 1975.

She then began her career as a Teacher's Aide from 1975 until 1980, working in the Baytown schools. From 1980 until her retirement in 1998, she was a Teacher's Aide in the West Orange-Cove CISD. Although not a mother herself, she loved working with school children as well as working and taking care of the children of Ninth and Elm Church of Christ and her immediate family. Fara was a longtime member of the Ninth and Elm Church of Christ.

Fara was preceded in death by her parents, six sisters and two brothers. She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Dennis J. Doggett of Orange; sisters, Sarah McNamara of Orange, Ruby Abbey of Henderson, Kentucky, Augusta Ingram of Little Cypress; brothers, Mack Dunkin and George Dunkin, both of Orange, two nieces, Johnna Brinkley and Tonya Gibbons, and numerous nieces and nephews on the Dunkin side of the family.

Serving as pallbearers will be Mack Dunkin, George Dunkin, Michael Carnley, James Berry, James Shoffitt and Virgil Ingram.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) for ALS Research (Lou Gehrig's Disease).

**********************************************************

Aunt Fara died after a brief fight with ALS. She had only been diagnosed the month prior to her death. Aunt Fara was such a small, petite woman and we believe that is part of the reason it affected her so quickly. We are blessed in the fact she did not suffer.
