Cynthia Ann Parker was the second of three known children of Agrippa (R. Agrippa?) Parker (???-1846) and Catherine Cox (1821-1899), who married 14 Jun 1838 at Washington County, Missouri. After Agrippa died, Catherine remarried to Joseph Milus Stevenson (1799-1862) on 03 Jan 1849 at Carroll Township, Reynolds County, Missouri and had an additional five known children.

Cynthia married the English immigrant John Henry Amsden (1842-1912) on 22 May 1864 at Iron County, Missouri. Cynthia and John were the parents of three known children, namely:

1. Sarah Jane Amsden Russell King (1865-1919)
2. Isabelle Amsden King (1867-1958)
3. Frederick "Fred" Oliver Amsden (1872-1954)

After Cynthia died, John remarried to Cassandra Amanda Ann Meadows ("Mandy") (1858-1937) on 31 Jan 1876 at West Fork, Reynolds County, Missouri and had an additional nine known children.

Cynthia fell from a haywagon and was killed. Her mother, Catherine Cox Parker Stevenson then raised the three children. Her husband John Henry Amsden was a blacksmith and a schoolteacher who later remarried and moved to Reynolds County, Missouri where he was postmaster at Centerville from 13 Feb 1903 to 21 Sep 1912. John fought in the Civil War with the Union troops. He enlisted with Company E, 3rd Missouri State Militia Calvary at Pilot Knob, Missouri on 07 Dec 1863 and was discharged at Benton Barracks, St. Louis, Missouri on 13 Jul 1865. He was born at Tring, about thirty miles NW of London, England.
