TONKAWA — Gloria M. Allen, resident of Tonkawa, died Friday, March 12, 2004, in Via Christi Oklahoma Regional Medical Center. She was 77.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Monday, March 15, in the Tonkawa Tribal Community Center with the Rev. Dr. John Randolph officiating. The traditional feast will be noon Monday preceded by a wake from 1 p.m. Saturday until noon Monday. Burial will be in the Tonkawa Tribal Cemetery under the direction of Dugger Funeral Home.

Gloria M. Allen was born Feb. 3, 1927, in Red Rock, the daughter of Charlie and Rosie Little Cross Moncooyea. She married Melvin S. Allen Sr. in July 1949 in Tonkawa.

She was a member of the Baptist Church in the Indian nation. She enjoyed bingo, cooking, and attending Indian activities.

Survivors include her husband of the home; three sons, Melvin S. Allen Jr., Charles Paul Allen and Samuel Joseph Allen, all of Tonkawa; five daughters, Joyce Marie Beard of Fort Worth, Texas, and Tina Allen, Reba Allen, Eva Mae Allen and Stacy Denise Allen, all of Tonkawa; 22 grandchildren; and 10 grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Otoe-Missouria tribe of Oklahoma, c/o Dugger Funeral Home, 400 E. Grand, Tonkawa, Okla. 74653.
