Pioneer Woman Dies at Son's Home Monday
Mrs. Anna F. Moran, 67, of Fromberg, succumbed Monday morning in Laurel at the home of her son, John Moran. She had been ill 10 days with pneumonia. Her three sons and Mrs. J.C Whaley of Townsend, a sister, were at her bedside at the time of her death. Mrs. Moran had resided at Laurel only since December.
Mrs. Moran was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Hines and she was born at Virginia City, Oct 21, 1865.
Both her mother and father had come west with their parents by ox team, traveling by way of Salt Lake City and overland to the early Montana mining city. Her mother and father were married at Virginia City in 1860.
On June 15, 1886, she was married to Edward B. Moran, at Canton, MT. He died in 1908 at Fromberg.
Following the wedding, the pair took up a homestead at Utica in Judith Basin. In 1894 they moved to a Carbon county ranch between Joliet and Rockvale, residing there for six years. In 1900 they started to farm about one mile from Fromberg and the Moran home has been maintained there since.
The survivors are sons, Thomas E. Moran of Nampa, Idaho, Edward V. Moran of Fromberg, and John H. Moran of Laurel; sisters, Mrs. Whaley and Mrs. W.D. Nield of Townsend; brothers, John Hines of Joliet, and George Hines of Tring, Alberta, Canada.
Funeral services at St. John's Catholic Church in Fromberg. Burial in Rockvale cemetery.
