Obituary
Mrs. A. W. Tinsley, in her maidenhood, Miss Kate Hines, was born in Missouri valley in 1869 and lived with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Hines Sr. until she was married to A. W. Tinsley (sic), who was a native of this part of the state. For several years Mr. and Mrs. Tinsley resided in this community, Mr. Tinsley at one time being foreman of the L. D. Burtt holdings on the old Polls-Harrison place, with a residence in Townsend. About ten years ago Mr. and Mrs. Tinsley moved to Carbon county and began farming near Joliet, where on July 24, surrounded by her family, she passed to her eternal reward.

For several years she has suffered with a complication of internal diseases, and on two occasions visited the sanitarium of the Mayo Bros. at Rochester, Minn., hoping to regain permanent health, but to no avail; her malady baffled the best efforts of skill, only permitting life while the stubborn tissues of a former strong constitution were being worn out. Those in this valley who remember Mrs. Tinsley can scarcely believe that so healthy and strong a person as she apparently was when she discontinued her residence among us, should be stricken so early in life.

Mrs. Tinsley will be missed not only because she was the very soul of congeniality, but because she was one to whom any one could turn for consolation and aid in time of need or distress. While she was jovial in disposition, she was of a deeply sympathetic nature, always abounding in those womanly characteristics which tend to make one feel better. She was a devoted wife and loving mother.

She leaves to mourn her death, a husband who was devoted to her every want and desire and four children, one boy and three girls, besides a father and several sisters and brothers.

The funeral ceremonies took place at the family home in Rock creek valley, interment being in the cemetery there. Mr. and Mrs. John Hines sr., Mr. John Hines jr., and Mesdames Croak, Whaley and Neild of the valley, attended the funeral from here. Mr. George Hines did not attend as it was impossible to get a message to him where he resides in Canada.

Arthur B. Tinsley and Mary Catherine Hines were married on May 3, 1894, in Helena, Montana. The marriage record shows her parents as John Hines Sr. and Annie Howard.
