WILLIAM BOMMERSCHEIM, SR., DIES AFTER LONG ILLNESS
William Bommerscheim, an old time and highly respected citizen, died at his home in the north part of this city Thursday, June 28, 1923 at 12:15 a.m. after a lingering illness. The past two weeks of his illness he spent in bed.
The deceased was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Adam Bommerscheim, deceased, and was born near Conant Station, Perry County on March 21, 1856. In early life he came to Pinckneyville and resided here until death.
He was married to Miss Mary Wanka in 1881 and to this union two children were born who died with the mother.
He was married again on July 17, 1883 to Augusta Poiner of Belleville. To this union four children were born, namely: Henry, who died in 1910 at the age of 26 years; John B. of Sullivan, Mo.; William A., who at present is in Greeley, Colo. on account of poor health and Miss Mary, who resides at home.
On May 8, 1893, he was again married to Mary Schorn, who survives him, also one brother, Henry, of this city; three sisters deceased; Mesdames Mike Eichholz, John and Jake Eichholz.
Funeral services were held at St. Bruno's Catholic church, Saturday morning at 8:00, conducted by Rev. Joseph Munier, after which the remains were laid to rest in the church cemetery.
The following pallbearers bore the remains to its last resting place: August Reiniker, Geo Ruppert, Joseph Hagler, John Niesing, Alphonse Bischof and Jos. A. Brey.
Those from out of town who attended the funeral were Andy Goepforth and family of Chicago, Mrs. George Monken and Mr. and Mrs. Heidorn of O'Fallon.
