She was born January 8, 1919 in Loa, Utah, to Lorenzo Jedediah and Jennie Grundy Taylor. Letha married Franklin Haws Durfey on June 8, 1937 in the Salt Lake Temple.
She was an active member of the LDS Church, serving in many callings and in the Provo and Mt. Timpanogos Temples. Letha and Haws served a mission in the Nauvoo Restoration Mission. She was a member of The Daughters of the Utah Pioneers.
Letha was a Reading Grandmother at Greenwood Elementary and a Pink Lady at American Fork Hospital. She supported her husband in his church and civic callings and in his business, Durfey Dry Cleaners. Most importantly, she was a kind and loving wife, mother and grandmother who cared for her family.
Survived by her children: Evan (Carol Ann) Durfey, Dennis Durfey, Jennie Lou (John) Green, Kathleen (B. Kay) Hutchings, Louise (Tom) Day and David (Christine) Durfey; 40 grandchildren; 122 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; her brother, Gordon Taylor; brother-in-law, Stanley Taylor; and sisters-in-law: Edna Taylor, Cora Burgess, Clara Pueblo, Neva Gillman, Melvina Green and Dixie Durfey.
Preceded in death by her husband, F. Haws Durfey; daughter-in-law, Helen Ann; parents; five brothers; and two sisters.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 25, 2010 at 11 a.m. in the American Fork Hillcrest Stake Center, 165 North 350 West. Visitations will be held Friday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Anderson & Sons Mortuary, 49 East 100 North, American Fork and Saturday at the church from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. prior to the services.
Interment, American Fork City Cemetery.
