Mrs. Maude Myers, well known Newman resident, passed away at her apartment at the Chapin residence, in this city, about 5 o'clock, Saturday evening, Sept. 14th. She had been ill for many years and confined to her bed for the past four months.
The deceased had been in business in Newman, back several years ago, when she operated a millinery store. She was of a rather quiet disposition, yet, made and retained friendships readily. She also operated a millinery store at Christmas prior to bringing it here.
The family resided here for many years, and although the deceased had been in poor health for the past several years, yet, she continued to be about her usual duties until about six months ago.
The news of her death was received by her many friends here with saddened hearts, although it had been known for weeks that her recovery was impossible.
The funeral service was held at the Christian Church, on Monday, Sept. 16th, at 2:30 o'clock p. m., Reverend Dean Breedlove, pastor of the church, assisted by Reverend Richard Atherton, pastor of the Methodist Church, had charge of the service. Internment was at Newman Cemetery.
