ELVIN "SHORTY" FOUST, 83, of New Haven died Sunday in Parkview Memorial Hospital. The Payne, Ohio, native retired in 1982 as a mechanic for Parent Chevrolet in New Haven after 39 years and operated his own mechanic shop from 1982-1993. He was a member of St. James Lutheran Church, New Haven. Surviving are his wife, M. Edith; daughters, Patricia Pepe and Nancy Zehr, both of New Haven; a son, Bill of St. Joe, Mich.; a sister, Katheryn Kenney of Madera, Calif.; brothers, Leonard of Madera and Leslie of Vancouver, Wash.; nine grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Services are 11 a.m. tomorrow in E. Harper & Son Funeral Home, New Haven, where calling is 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. today. Burial will be in IOOF Cemetery, New Haven. Memorials are to the church or American Heart Association.
