J.E. Oakes Dies At Hugo Tuesday
HUGO, Okla. (Special) - Death of J.E. (DoC) Oakes, 79 years old, brother of L.W. Oakes, veteran justice of the peace, came at 3:45 o'clock Tuesday morning at his home in Rock Hill community four miles northeast of Hugo. He had been ill some time.
The funeral will be held Wednesday afternoon at the residence with burial at Mt. Olivet Cemtery, Senner funeral home having charge.
Born at Goodwater, near Frogville, Mr. Oakes had spent his life in the county, engaging in farming.
His wife died in 1832, and he leaves four daughters, Mrs. Cora House, Mrs. G.A. Lovett, Mrs. Lizzie Grant & Mrs. Effie Fleming & two brothers, G.W. Oakes of Oklahoma City and L.W. Oakes here.

HUGO, Okla., (Special) - Funeral services for J.E. (Doc) Oakes, veteran farmer and cattleman of Choctaw county, who died Tuesday morning, were set for 2 o'clock Wednesday afternoon at his home at Rock Hill, northeast of Hugo, conducted by the Rev. G.C. Crowell and the Rev. J.W. Mayne, with burial at Mt. Olivet Cemtery. Senner Funeral Home was in charge, the Masonic Lodge conducting the commitment rites, and pallbearers being J.B. Gooding of Grant, W.H. Andrews, C.E. Barnhill, Wheeler Leard, Charles Nease and Charley Weddington.
Mr. Oakes, who was born at Rock Hill, leaves four daughters, two brothers, a sister and eight grandchildren. His wife died in 1932.
