Russell Fisher was a Colonel in the United States Air Force (ret) and a veteran pilot of World War II and the Korean War.

He graduated from the University of Idaho and married Mary Eleanor Yothers on December 20, 1943.

He was a descendant of the Mormon pioneers, grandson of a pony express rider and the father of an astronaut.

At the time of his death, he was survived by his wife, 2 sons, 2 daughters, 6 sisters, 2 brothers and 10 granchildren.
