Lucille Fisher Franzen passed away on Dec. 31, 2016, in Salt Lake City, Utah. She was born Oct. 19, 1919, to Victor R. Fisher and Cecil Tucker Fisher in Oxford, Idaho. She was the 5th child of 9 children. After graduating from Downey High School, she moved to Salt Lake City where she worked at the Classic Cleaners. A customer invited her to go out with his brother who was in town. It was love at first sight for both of them. She married Kendall Eugene Franzen on June 29, 1943, in Salt Lake City, Utah.
They moved to Corpus Christi, Texas, where Ken was a Lt. Commander and flight instructor for the U.S. Navy during World War II. During their married life, the lived in Texas, Georgia, California, Washington, Arizona, Utah, Colorado and Idaho. They loved camping, fishing, gardening, golfing and spending time in the great outdoors.
When Kendall retired from the Postal Inspection Service at age 53, they moved from Denver, Colorado, to Oxford, Idaho, to help care for Lucille's aging mother. They spent winters in San Carlos Bay, Mexico, until Ken's death in 1992. Prior to his death, they traveled throughout Mexico, Alaska, the Holy Land and the Far East. She was an active member of the LDS Church. She became ward chorister at age 12 and continued conducting music throughout her life.
She is survived by two daughters, Carole (Edwin) Madsen of Salt Lake City, Utah; Bette (Reed) Geertsen of Logan, Utah; 11 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren; a sister, Bess Eads of Salt Lake City; and by a brother, Stan Fisher of San Carlos Bay, Mexico. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents and by 6 siblings.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 6, 2017, at noon at Webb Funeral Home, 1005 South 800 East, Preston, Idaho, with Bishop Rich Geertsen conducting. Friends may call Friday from 10:30-11:30 a.m. at Webb Funeral Home. Interment will be in the Oxford, Idaho, Cemetery. Memories and condolences may be shared with the family at www.webbmortuary.com
