On April 19, 1911 as Irene H. Seitz, she married Augustus P. Crenshaw at her home at Washington, District of Columbia.
They were the parents of two children.
Irene H. Crenshaw was a fourth generation Washingtonian. In 1904 she graduated from the Business High School. From 1953 to 1969 she was a receptionist at the Broadmoor Apartments on Connecticut Avenue. She was a former resident manager of apartments at 4801 Connecticut Avenue Northwest. She was a member of the Sodality of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church. She died at age 91 on Sunday, January 27, 1980 at the Wisconsin Avenue Nursing Home. She was a resident of Rodman Street Northwest. She was predeceased by her husband, August P. Shaw, an accountant for the General Accounting Office and daughter, Mary Suzanne Walther who died in 1942. Survivors included her son, August P. Crenshaw III of Chevy Chase, Maryland, two grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Mass of Christian Burial was at St. Thomas Apostle Catholic Church at 2665 Woodley Road Northwest. Interment was at Oak Hill Cemetery. Memorial donations were suggested to charity. Arrangements were by Joseph Gawler's Sons at 5130 Wisconsin Avenue at Harrison Street Northwest.
