Lela collected owls and loved to read and do crafts. She made beautiful quilts and afghans.

Funeral services for Mrs. Audie Lela Watson West, 77, of Grayson, La., were held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 8, 1998 at the Riser Funeral Home chapel in Columbia, La., with the Rev. Larry Adkins officiating. Interment followed at Old Union Cemetery near Grayson. Mrs. West, the daughter of the late Charlie and Sarah Childress Watson, was born in Caldwell Parish on August 12, 1920 and died at the Lagniappe Hospital in Shreveport, La., on July 6, 1998. She was a homemaker and was preceded in death by her husband Ted West. Survivors include: one son, Euel "Bud" West, Minden, La.; two daughters, Betty Quinn, Shreveport, La., and Gloria Dunn, Kelly, La.; two sisters, Lena Stamper, Columbia, La., and Cecilia Humphries, Monroe, La.; seven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Pallbearers were: Bernard Dunn, Michael Dunn, Slim Quinn, Dewayne Quinn, Walter L. Simmons and Leroy Simmons.
