Obituary for FLOYD HENRY OATMAN

Floyd Henry Oatman, son of Chas. E. and Hulda Oatman, was born at Leroy, Nebr., Sept. 21, 1892. He passed away at Arapahoe, Nebr., Aug. 12, 1950, at the age of 57 years, 11 months and 7 days, after a lingering illness.

His boyhood was spent at Leroy. On Sept. 18, 1917 he entered the service of his country in World War I, serving overseas until the date of his discharge June 3, 1919. He was a member of the 89th Division, taking part in four major battles among them being the St Mihiel and the Meuse Argonne offensive.

He was united in marriage to Mary Elsie Reynolds of Topeka, Kans., in 1920. To this union five children were born.

He leaves to mourn his passing his children, Mrs. Ruth Jardin and Jackie Lee of Herlong, Calif.; Pfc Perry Marcus, Marine Barracks, U.S. Naval Station, Treasure Island, San Francisco; Pfc Patty lee, first Marine Division, Camp Joseph H. Pendleton, Oceanside, Calif.; a daughter-in-law, Mrs. Joyce Oatman, Beaver City; a son-in-law, Mal Jardin, Herlong, Calif.; three grandchildren, Arlyce Ann, Patrice sSKay and Henry Otto; Four sisters, Mrs. Lon Van Matre, Hendley; Mrs. Hazel Betz, Emeryville, Calif.; Mrs. Mamie Fiddler, Englewood Colo., and Mrs. Nettie Davis, Santa Monica, Calif., and a brother, John Oatman of Spencer, Nebr. His daughter, Kathryn, his parents, three sisters and one brother preceded him in death.

He lived in the Hollinger community the greater part of his life, except for about five years spent in government work at Minitare, Nebr., from 1933 to 1938.

He united with the United Brethren Church at Hollinger Nov. 2, 1924. He was a kind father and a friend to all who knew him.

Funeral services were held Wednesday morning at the Methodist Church, conducted by the pastor, Rev. George E. Goodwin. Music was furnished by A.I. Wilburn, Olin Atwood, Mrs. Boyd Ready and Mrs. E.F. Gee. Pall bearers were Howard Payne, Porter Norfleet, Chas. M. Brown, A.G. Hubbard, Arthur Smith and John Baker. Burial was made in Mount Hope Cemetery.
