BOISE, Idaho — Patty (Dean) L. Oatman, 89, of Boise, died Nov. 28, 2018.

He was born Aug. 25, 1929, in Hollinger, Neb., to Floyd H. and Mary E. (Reynolds) Oatman. He graduated from Beaver City High School in 1948.

He joined the U.S. Marine Corp. and served in Korea. He married Joyce E. Ford in Las Vegas, Nev., on June 9, 1950. In 1994, they moved to Alma, Neb.

He was a member of the American Legion Post 118 and the “Chosin Frozen Few” group, being one of the survivors of the famous “Chosin Reservoir Battle.”

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Joyce; children, Cynthia Kohlstedt and Steven Oatman; grandsons, Joshua Paul and Steven Colf; sisters, Ruth and Katherine and brothers, Perry and Jack.

Surviors include son, Micheal Oatman; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Services are Saturday, Dec. 15, 2017, 2 p.m., at the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Beaver City, Neb., with the Rev. Bill Weaver officiating.

Interment will follow at the Mount Hope Cemetery with military rites given by the Beaver City American Legion Post.

Wenburg Funeral Home of Beaver City is in charge of the arrangements.
