Melvin E. Standridge, age 87, of Dardanelle, AR died Saturday, April 17, 2004 at his home in Dardanelle. He was born March 19, 1917 in Dover, AR to the late John and Hettie Pearson Standridge. He was a retired carpenter and a former city inspector for Norristown.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Paulette Bowden; granddaughter Terrie Lynn Standridge; brothers, Joe, Boyd, Lloyd and Doyn Standridge and sisters, Audrey Jones and Lou Jones.
Survivors, wife, Imo Bond Standridge; children and spouses, John Standridge, Lamar, AR, Jeanette & Jerry May and Judy Standridge all of Centerville and Roger Standridge of Hackberry, LA; brother, Delmar Standridge of Centerville, AR; sisters, Vernell Hampton of Pontoon, AR and Arlene Delbert of Winchester, AR; step children, Reece Whitby of Little Rock, AR, Tommy Whitby of Oklahoma, Michael Whitby of Dardanelle and Donald Whitby of Conway, AR; 21 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great grandchildren.
Services will be Wednesday; 2 PM at the Slaty Crossing Free will Baptist Church with Bro. Bob Judkins officiating. Interment will be in Ringer Cemetery by Cornwell Funeral Home of Dardanelle.
