She was born on May 14, 1906, in Grant County, a daughter of the Late Henry Petty and Emily Veasey Crutchfield. She attended Moore's School, near Sheridan, and Paxton School, near Prattsville. She was a member of First Landmark Missionary Baptist Church at Sheridan, where she was a Sunday School teacher. She was a member of the American Association of Retired Persons, Governor's Board of Senior Citizens, Home Demonstration Club, and Eastern Star.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clifford Dean Winston, who died on Jun 1, 1972; and a son, J.D. Winston, who died in 1973.
Survivors include a son, Donald Lee Winston Sr. of Sheridan; a daughter, Sue Winston Smith of Pine Bluff; nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at First Landmark Missionary Baptist Church with the Revs. Tim Montgomery and William Ashcraft officiating. Burial will be in Lost Creek Cemetery at Sheridan by Buie Funeral Home at Sheridan.
