Veora Blackmon, 95, of Glenwood, died Tuesday, July 17, 2001.

She was born on March 1, 1906 in Pike County, the daughter of William Riley Foshee and Cozie Anna Pounds Foshee. On June 28, 1925, she was married to Dee Climons Blackmon who preceded her in death on October 4, 1985. She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Marie Kendall.

She was a member of the Glenwood First Baptist Church.

She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Ken and June Blackmon of Glenwood and Art and Gail Blackmon of Mount Ida; one daughter and son-in-law, Alice and Eugene "Sonny" Rhodes of Oklahoma; twelve grandchildren; twenty-four great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; five sisters, Ilee Morgan of Louisiana, Blanche Woodall, Billie Adams, Juanita Watson and Desiree Mitchell all of Texas; and her sister-in-law of Alabama.

Services were held Friday, July 20, in the Glenwood First Baptist Church with Rev. Erby Burgess officiating.

Interment was in the Salem Cemetery under the direction of Davis-Smith Funeral Home of Glenwood.

Pallbearers were David Blackmon, Danny Britt, Rusty Rhodes, Steve Sims, Paul Sims and Larry Keener.
