Adan served 18 years at the Fort Wingate Army Depot. He was a retired WWII Veteran and was Honorably discharged from the U.S. Navy. He was a past Commander G.I. Forum, Gallup. He enjoyed playing the guitar at mass and social functions. He was a "sharp shooter from San Mateo".
Survivors include his companion, Mary Jabe Carrillo; son, Oliver A. Barela of Espanola; daughter, Joyce R. Barela of Albuquerque, Anne Piese of Gallup; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Adan was preceded in death by his wife, Rose R. Barela, son, Eloy A. Barela; mother, Cipriana Mirabal Barela; brothers, Nestor and Alfredo Barela; sisters, Eneselsa Sena, Josephine Michael, Genoveva Trujillo and Espiridonia "Espidy" Montano and one granddaughter.
