He married Sarah Elizabeth Morelock on December 22, 1881. Sarah was born on February 19, 1862 in Ohio. Her parents were Elijah Wilson Morelock and Charity Gates Morelock
James and Sarah had six children; Carrie, Olive, Nora, William, Mason and Charles.
Sarah probably died between 1893, (when her youngest child Charles was born) to 1895 (when her married his 2nd wife.) Unless of course, they divorced. To date I have no information on when she died or where she is buried.
On November 24, 1895, James, at age 41, married Cora Belle Mills, a 23 year old widow with a three year old son named Nathan Willis. Together James and Cora had four daughters; Lulu, Lois, Bessie and Thelma.
At some point the family moved to Sacramento, California, where James worked as a carpenter.
James and Cora were married 35 years before he died at the age of 75.
