AUGUSTA SPRINGS - Osborne Zigler Sprouse, 69, of Augusta Springs, died Wednesday morning (Dec. 3, I960) at his residence. [Augusta Springs]
He was born on May 20, 1911, in Rockbridge County, a son of Peter Elmer "Pete" and Sarah Jane (Hinkle) Sprouse.
Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Mary Margaret (Sensabaugh) Sprouse; a daughter, Mrs. Mary S. Sours of Craigsville; three brothers, Gilbert of St. Cloud. Fla., Homer J. of Dunbar, W.Va., and Gordon Sprouse of Craigsville; seven sisters, Mrs. Blanch Henshaw of Bumpass, Mrs. Callie Herbert of Hughesville, Md., Mrs. Hattie S. Rice of Sissonville, W.Va., Mrs. Margaret B. Staples and Mrs. Lottie M. Cason, both of Staunton, Mrs. Florence V. Meeks of Craigsville, and Mrs. Sarah Janie Daniels of Columbia, S.C.; six grand-children. His first wife, Mrs. Ruth Virginia (Balser) Sprouse, died in 1949, and his son, Osborne Junior Sprouse, died in April 1973.
A service will be conducted 2 p.m. Friday in Craigsville Presbyterian Church by the Rev. M.W. Norfleet. Burial will be in Community Memorial Cemetery in Craigsville.
Pallbearers will be James R. Grogg, Gene Wood, James McCutchen, Charles Bazzrea, Dave Showker Jr. and Harvey Goff.
Honorary pallbearers will be Richard L. Fox, James Corbin, Frank Cale, Justinian F. Daniel, Marshall Fox and Sid Bazzrea Jr.
The family will receive friends from 7-8:30 tonight at Henry Funeral Home.
